The communal head of Florida requires the Government and the SII that the highways should pay contributions for using public land. In the instance, he explained that in the last five years, the companies should have paid $750 million for this concept only in the commune.
the mayor of FloridaRodolfo Carter, asked the Government to demand from highway concessions throughout the country, the payment of the corresponding contributions for using a national asset of public use for its economic exploitation.
The communal chief said that “in the last five years, the non-payment of contributions has meant that in La Florida we have not received from the order of 750 million pesoswhich is a very considerable volume of money”.
“The one who must pay the tax is not the owner, but the one who uses it. The large highways, which have been an engine of progress for the country and have made it possible to connect cities much more quickly, have been a very profitable business. For this reason, for four years we have been insisting that they pay what is fair, that is, the land tax,” explained Carter.
What does the $750 million mean for the commune?
With the $750 million that the company should have paid for territorial tax in the last five years, 1,250 tele-surveillance cameras might have been installed in the commune; 22 new vehicles for citizen security; nine high standard places for the districts of the commune, or to benefit 45,000 homes with 15-kilo liquefied gas cylinders.
In addition, he added that “in this the State has a fundamental role, through the Internal Revenue Service, which was required by us some time ago, but never pronounced itself.”
In the coming days, Carter will present this issue to the new board of directors of the Chilean Association of Municipalities, headed by the mayor of Peñalolén, Carolina Leitao.
