Four Seynois beers awarded at the prestigious World beer awards competition

Launched on the market a year ago, they are already making a splash!

Among more than 10,000 beers from around fifty countries, four beverages brewed in La Seyne were rewarded at the World beer awardsinternational competition organized since 2007 in London.

Blind tasted by a jury made up of brewers, zythologists (beer and beer tasting professionals))distributors and food journalists, the drinks are judged according to their flavor and the design of their container.

“We had presented six of our beers, all organic and brewed with 100% French barley, part of which comes from the Verdon”, explains Rodolphe Apparu, manager of the company created in June 2021 in Les Playes.

“The jury awarded us two bronze medals, one for our Blonde and one for our Bière du bouliste, which won in the ”blonde with fruits” category: flavored with lemon from Menton, it was created in collaboration with the Toulon bar O’Boulodrome.”

“Furthermorecontinues the boss of La Cig, we obtained two silver medals: one for our Blanche and one for La Triple, made with three fermentations and whose alcohol content reaches 8.3° as a nod to the postal code of the department”.

20,000 liters per month

“As the company is recentcontinues Rodolphe Apparu, We took part in this competition to make ourselves known. But, for us, the most beautiful medal is the feedback from consumers, who regularly send us compliments. So when these opinions agree with those of a jury of professionals, obviously it is a satisfaction”.

These distinctions fall at a time when La Cig, which has a production capacity of around 20,000 liters per month, is running at full speed.

With the high summer demand linked to the festivities and the ambient heat, “lager beers, which are very popular for being more refreshing, are very successful”.

A new brand

But the company did not wait for the medals to gain momentum. “Since a few months, details the person in charge, on multiplies collaborations with bars, restaurants, campsites, wine merchants, delicatessens and organic chains in the department”.

The brewery also welcomes many visitors curious to discover the site: “These are locals who come with family or friends, but also tourists who have had the opportunity to taste our beers. The visit is free, the tasting offered and people often leave with their arms full following passing through the shop. “.

The company, which has seven employees, is also in the process of developing a range for mass distribution, which will be marketed under the brand The little Varoisespecially created.

Added to this is the production of organic lemonades (scented with mint, lemon or fig), marketed under the brand The cousins.

And for all those who do not yet know La Cig, the company will be present this weekend during the mouclade organized at the Parc de la Navale.

“We are going to present our award-winning beers, which will be distributed on tap and available in bottles. We will bring around fifteen 20 and 30 liter barrels. And, if necessary, we will come back to the workshop to restock”.

Because there is no doubt that with the current temperatures, the mousse should go like hot cakes!
