According to the Spanish journalist Rubén Uría, recognized worldwide for his exclusive interview with Lionel Messi in 2020, the Colombian side ended his contract with Atlético de Madridwhich expired in mid-2023, and is free to negotiate his arrival at any club.

After the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the Colombian was signed by Colchonero from PSV Eindhoven. At Atlético de Madrid he played until the coronavirus pandemic, when he went on loan to Bayer Leverkusen, but He only played one game in Germany, since he suffered a serious injury with the Colombian National Team which caused him to miss the entire season.
