Spain seeks in Teruel to close the ticket to the European volleyball tournament against Georgia

The Spanish volleyball team will receive this Wednesday in Los Planos de Teruel the Cinderella of the qualifying group for the 2023 European Championship, Georgia. The Spanish start as clear favorites with two wins in the two games played, once morest Hungary at home and once morest Slovakia on the Teruel field.

To prevail this followingnoon in the third appointment of the Pre-European, Spain would have practically assured a place in the European Championship. The national team, with the good game shown once morest Slovakia, the most difficult rival in the group, and with morale through the roof, has everything in their favor to take the three points.

The Spanish coach Miguel Rivera acknowledges that Georgia is “the weakest rival”, a condition corroborated following having lost the two games he has played to date. But he warns that the national team “has to maintain intensity and not lower performance.” He clarifies that, despite facing a more modest team, Spain “should not relax.”

The captain of the national team, Andrés Villena, stated that the meeting with Georgia is an “important” match because it might be definitive to seal the pass to the Eurovolley. Villena admitted that the team from Eastern Europe is the “weakest” in the qualifying tournament and, therefore, “the goal is to get the three points.”

Both the coach and the captain appeal to the Teruel fans -whom they know well following having been a coach and player, respectively, for Pamesa Teruel- to push the team towards its third victory in search of European place. The national squad hopes that the magic of Los Planos will once once more be a talisman for the RedLynxes to maintain their unbeaten record as hosts of the national team.
