Al-Arabi, the competitor in the Qatar Stars Football League, announced today, Tuesday, the loan of the Syrian Omar Al-Soma, the striker and captain of the Saudi Al-Ahly club, for one season.
Al-Arabi, the fourth league last season, said through his Twitter account, “It was agreed with the Saudi Al-Ahly Club to loan Omar Al-Soma to our club for one season. We extend special thanks to Al-Ahly Club for the good cooperation.”
Al-Arabi will host his local rival Al-Rayyan next Thursday in the second round of the Stars League, and this match may witness the first appearance of Al-Soma in his new team shirt.
Al-Soma, 33, decided to leave Al-Ahly during the current summer transfer period, following the team was relegated to the second division.
Al-Soma, who will wear the number 9 shirt, joined Al-Ahly in 2014 from Al-Qadisiyah, and won four titles with him, including the league title in the 2015-2016 season and the King’s Cup in the same season.
As well as the Crown Prince Cup 2014-2015 season and the Saudi Super Cup 2016-2017 season.
The Syrian international was crowned the league’s top scorer for three consecutive years from 2014 to 2017.
Al-Soma, who was born in Deir Ezzor, Syria, began his career in his country with Al-Fatwa, who played for him until his move to Al-Qadisiyah in 2011.
On the other hand, Al-Arabi announced the transfer of his Gabonese international striker, Aaron Bubendza, 26, to the Saudi youth for a period of three years, starting from next season.
