Indian actress Deepika Padukone participated in mental health events in Mumbai a few days ago, in which she talked regarding her struggles with mental health and the role of her mother, Ujwala Padukone, who recognized her symptoms and signs related to depression, and encouraged her to seek help.
Deepika Padukone revealed that she suffered from depression a few years ago, as she was forced to act in front of her parents when they visited her in Mumbai that she is fine while dealing with depression. She said, “My parents live in Bangalore, so every time they visit me, until now, I always put on a mask of courage to show that everything is okay,” she added, “You always want to show your parents that you’re okay.”
Deepika, who owns The Live Love Laugh Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports people facing mental health issues, continued: “I was failing for no apparent reason. Suicide, sometimes.”
She added, “I don’t think that speaking regarding my struggles with mental health in 2014 was courageous and something extraordinary… I was just being honest in a way that changed my life forever.”
It is noteworthy that Deepika Padukone had recently felt unwell while filming her latest film, which led to the transfer of Deepika to a private hospital in Hyderabad.
As Bombay Times reports, Deepika felt unwell following her heart rate increased, and was immediately taken to Kamenini Hospital in the city where doctors examined her. However, she soon felt better and returned to the film sets. Then she started filming once more with Mettabh Bachchan with her heart rate stable.
