There is no doubt that many people have already experienced that sharp, sudden pain that occurs at the level of the chest, barely allowing movement or breathing.
Although the pain subsides following a few seconds, its severity, like a serious stab, is enough to temporarily paralyze the body.
The strangest thing is that we rarely talk regarding this condition, even though it is very common even among young people and children.
We review all the real reasons behind the occurrence of this annoying chest pain, according to what was reported by the “Pride Site” website.
– patella gravitational syndrome
Traumatic graft syndrome (or Huchard’s syndrome) is the medical name for that sharp chest pain, which some think is a sign of a heart attack, also known as (Tixedur’s prick).
It is a sudden pain in the front part of the heart, which is why it is called precordial in English. It is common for children and young adults to have this condition, while adults do to a lesser extent.
The pain from this chest prick is usually described as a stab or ‘needle stick’. It occurs suddenly when a person is at rest, or following a normal sports session.
What are its causes?
Although this sensation is very annoying and occurs in an area close to the heart, this does not mean that there is a heart problem at all.
All that happens is that the pleura (the covering that covers some organs such as the diaphragm) presses on the sensory nerves near the rib cage.
For this reason, pain usually appears in the chest wall or rib area, even in the absence of physical activity.
Confusing worry
Because Huchard’s syndrome occurs more frequently in children and adolescents, it is very common that the first time a child experiences such severe pain is frightening to parents.
This pain next to the heart and difficult to explain, makes them think the worst and think that there is a defect in the heart. Therefore, the main challenge facing the doctor, is to analyze the symptoms and review the patient’s medical history in order to identify any injuries or heart problems that require treatment.
How do we get past it?
Although the syndrome is painful and worrisome, it is not considered a medical emergency. It is true that it is difficult to breathe deeply during the occurrence, but this is important in getting rid of the pain quickly, knowing that some people may feel dizzy due to the lack of air in the lungs, or make a great effort during deep breathing.
It is also recommended to change the position of your body, proceed to moderation in your seat if you are reclining, and start massaging the painful area until you feel comfortable. You will notice that the pain will not take more than 1 minute. Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent it from happening, and it can recur whether you are at rest or doing physical exertion.
Unless the pain is related to a serious illness such as asthma or bronchitis, there is no need for concern. Huchard syndrome usually disappears spontaneously by the time a person is regarding 20 years old. They also don’t require any treatment, although some doctors may recommend NSAIDs. However, this is not necessary. If you notice that the tingling is accompanied by other symptoms, it is best to consult a medical professional.
Accurate identification of the causes
The aforementioned sudden “stab wounds” cause real apprehension and anxiety because there are some other conditions that are similar in terms of severity and symptoms. Therefore, it is necessary for the doctor to make a careful analysis to distinguish between them. Most of these cases are due to sensory and other psychological causes, the most common of which are the entry of foreign particles into the airways, hepatitis, swallowing air (intentionally, for example to try to induce burping), burning fluids, asthma and pneumonia. On the other hand, pain may be a physical symptom of panic attacks, anxiety, depression and hyperventilation syndrome.
