Salwa Checkpost has been opened after completing the expansion in Saudi

RIYADH: The expanded check post at Salwa border with Saudi-Qatar has started functioning with full capacity. The upgrade was completed with a six-fold increase in capacity over the previous one. The border check post, which was closed due to the Saudi-Qatar blockade, has been expanded with more facilities.

It was opened by the Governor of the Eastern Province, Prince Saud bin Naif, and the Governor of Alhassa, Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr. The expansion has been done by increasing the capacity by six times compared to the previous one. The renovation includes more counters and checking points. Earlier there was a facility for three thousand vehicles. Now the facilities have been increased to 12,000. The checkpoint, which was closed earlier due to the Saudi-Qatar embargo, was re-opened following the embargo was lifted. Following this, the expansion works also started here.
