Browns: Kareem Hunt asked for a trade

Kareem Hunt (RB, Browns) gets impatient. According to Cleveland.com, the runner, who is in the final year of his 2-year, $12 million contract, has asked to be traded. A request to which its leaders responded with a refusal.

Hunt would like a contract extension. For the past three years, he’s brought energy to Cleveland’s relay offense from Nick Chubb. But he has also often been slowed down by injuries, which notably caused him to miss 9 games last year.

Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray swap roles

It’s not that easy to be a coach. And for Kyler Murray (QB, Cardinals) to understand it, Kliff Kingsbury obviously had to put him in the situation. The manager told ESPN that he gave Murray the call-calling task during Saturday’s practice.

“I just wanted him to know it’s not easy. Sometimes he shakes his head when it’s me calling the plays. So I said to myself, “OK, go ahead my man”, explained the coach.

Results ? Not easy. Kingsbury explained that Murray sometimes kept talking until the quarterback threw the ball.

“I wouldn’t want to play for Kyler Murray if I was a quarterback and he was the coach,” Kingsbury joked.

Kiko Alonso stops

He only played one day with the Saints. According to NewOrleans.Football, Kiki Alonso (LB) decided to retire on Saturday, despite signing with the New Orleans franchise the day before.

The good news is that there is no talk of a medical issue for the 31-year-old. He would have simply realized that he no longer wanted to play.

Alonso was chosen by the Bills in the second round of the 2013 Draft. He played for Buffalo, then the Eagles, Dolphins, Saints and 49ers. He had 58 tackles, 3 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 7 covered fumbles, 10 interceptions and 1 touchdown.

New Hall of Famers honored

Saturday evening, the new members of the Hall of Fame were entitled to their introductory speech. At the end of the thanks, the new class of legends consisted of Dick Vermeil, Cliff Branch, Bryant Young, Toni Boselli, Art McNally, Richard Seymour, Sam Mills and LeRoy Butler. Boselli was the first Jaguars player to get his bust.

Echoes of the training camps

– John Harbaugh announced that Lamar Jackson (QB, Ravens) will not play his team’s first preseason game.

– Absent for five days due to COVID, Kyler Murray (QB, Cardinals) resumed training.

– Also absent from training due to COVID for several days, Pete Carroll also reunited with his team on Friday.

– Excused from training for personal reasons on Friday, Tom Brady (QB, Buccaneers) was present on the field on Saturday.

Transactions

Signatures : Nate Gerry (LB, Commanders), Quenton Meeks (CB, Saints), Chris Odom (DE, USFL Defender of the Year, Browns), Willie Snead (WR, 49ers), Davontae Harris (CB, Bears)

injuries

Chris Godwin (WR, Buccaneers) is operational! The receiver returned to practice on Friday, a first for him since tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee last season. He was wearing protection, but that’s already (literally) a first step. Conversely, Mike Evans (WR) is sidelined for the time being. He has been suffering from hamstring pain since Friday. His coach assured the press that he should return any day.

– Reassuring exit for Matthew Stafford (QB, Rams) during practice on Saturday. While his coach had spoken a few days earlier of an elbow injury “abnormal for a quarterback”, Stafford had several through passes and even a blind pass during Saturday’s session. He then explained to the press that, although his elbow is a bit sore, he can pull off all the passes he wants to attempt.

N’Keal Harry (WR, Bears) suffers from a severe ankle sprain. The injury occurred during training on Saturday. His ankle spun when he was tackled by a linebacker. He might be out for six weeks, according to NFL Network.

Tyler Lindenbaum (C, Ravens) will be out for at least a week with a left leg injury. He was injured during training on Thursday. (ESPN)

– Season ended for Marcus McKethan (OL, Giants) victim of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the right knee. (ESPN)

They come off the list of non-football related injuries (NFI) : Rodger Saffold (OG, Bills)

otherwise

– The Cardinals announced the layoff of James Saxon, their running backs coach. The latter was arrested last May and indicted on charges of domestic violence.

–On his “Hartman and Rich” radio show, former Patriots lineman Rich Ohrnberger explained that he’d rather have a minor car accident than show up late to a Patriots meeting for no reason and face the anger of the coaches.

@hartmanandricho What would you do if you were late for a #Patriots team meating??? #NFL #Trending #TrainingCamp #ForYouPage #ForYou #FYP @richohrnberger @New England Patriots ♬ original sound – HartmanAndRichO

Byron Murphy is comfortable

Always further in the personalization of shoes. Byron Murphy (CB, Cardinals) loves wearing Crocs. So an artist created shoes for him with cleats reminiscent of the plastic shoe.

It is actually a pair of Nikes painted yellow, on which holes have been cut. A Crocs lanyard (child size) has been added for effect.
