A jiu-jitsu legend killed by a police officer during a concert

Leandro Lo, multiple world champion in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, was shot and killed by a police officer during a concert given on Sunday in Sao Paulo, reports the media MMA Fighting.

An argument between the 33-year-old athlete and a member of the police would be the cause of this tragedy.

According to witnesses, officer Henrique Otavio Oliveira Velozo took a bottle from Leandro Lo’s table. The latter would then have thrown Velozo to the ground, where he kept him until people around finally separated them.

It was then that Velozo allegedly pulled out his gun and shot the athlete in the head. Leandro Lo was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.

The pugilist has won the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championship eight times, in addition to being crowned Pan American champion eight times as well.

In addition, Leandro Lo has twice won the European Open. He is one of the most decorated athletes in the history of his sport.
