The news of the death of the Brazilian football king, Pele, spread through social media, but Brazilian sites denied the matter and considered it just continuous rumors due to the health condition of the “samba” legend and his constant admission to the hospital for treatment of a colon tumor.
Some websites reported that the news of the death was published on the Brazilian Football Confederation’s website, and it turned out later that the website did not publish it.
Pele is considered the greatest player in football, and he is the only one in history to win the World Cup three times (1958, 1962 and 1970), and scored 77 goals in 92 matches for the “Celeção” shirt before retiring in 1977.
He was chosen in 1999 by the International Olympic Committee, as one of the best athletes of the twentieth century, and a year later as the best player of the same century by the International Football Association (FIFA).
