Surprise visit from the soccer stars |
“At 3:12 a.m., the Bavarians wanted my currywurst”
Frankfurt – First the Bavarians ate the Frankfurt Eintracht with a 6:1. Then there was currywurst as a prize.
Friday to Saturday night, 3:12 a.m.: At a snack bar on Frankfurt’s famous “Zeil” shopping street, six FC Bayern stars suddenly appear, including Joshua Kimmich (27), Serge Gnabry (27) and Lucas Hernandez (26). In red and white t-shirts, in a good mood. Shortly before, they had celebrated the smashing victory at the start of the Bundesliga in the “Gibson Club”, a trendy disco.
Hossain Shorob (48) was on duty at “Best Worscht in Town” that evening, it said in the sausage booth: “I thought I wasn’t looking properly. Suddenly the guys from FC Bayern were standing there in their club clothes and wanted currywurst. They were incredibly nice and so normal. Just funny boys.” The Wurstbude is known for fiery dishes.
But the players didn’t want it to be really sharp. Shorob: “I made a mix of Frankfurt beef sausage and bratwurst. I slightly cheered the sausage up with some heat, a bit of freestyle and jambalaya.” Means: A little classic curry powder and an exotic special mix of 17 spices.
The boys did without bread, fries were on the house. Hossain: “Eight servings cost 32 euros. Kimmich paid cash for everyone. I wanted to invite the boys, but that was out of the question.”
There was also a tip: 8 euros. Shorob: “I didn’t want a tip, it was an honor. When can you see stars like that up close?”
Lars Obendorfer, the owner of “Best Worscht”, is also happy and offers an incentive for Eintracht’s losers at the start: “I’m offering our Eintracht players to feed them for free next week. Then it will work out once more with the win.”
Julian Nagelsmann is happy with the great start following the departure of Tor-Garantie Lewandowski (to Barca).
The Bayern coach on the new Bayern: “The energy is partly brought in by the new players, but also by players who have been there for ages. I hope the hunger stays!”
