The Conakry clean city day, instituted by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, was officially launched this Saturday, August 06, 2022. This civic day now takes place on the first Saturday of each month in Guinea. The initiative of the transitional authorities aims to rid Conakry of its garbage. In the commune of Dixinn, several ministers were on the ground to set a good example, found Guineematin.com on the spot through one of its reporters.

In the town of Dixinn, the actual operation was launched at 10 a.m. sharp. It took place behind the infantry camp, ex Camp Boiro, in the Camayenne district. Several ministers were present: Ousmane Gaoual Diallo (Minister of Town Planning), Moussa Magassouba (Minister of Mines), Lopou Lamah (Minister of the Environment) and Rose Pola Pricemou (Minister of Information and Communication).

In her speech, Rose Pola Pricemou indicated that the presence of members of the government is a way of serving as an example for citizens. “We want to serve as an example as members of the government who are within reach of decisions, the orientations of government policies, to tell the people that we are at heart with them, that we are also involved in this process which will help to move towards a clean city and a clean country. What must also be taken away, we do not want these to be days simply to be initiated. We want the population to also engage in this same dynamic so that together we can sanitize our own homes, sanitize our streets, and that everyone feels responsible and involved in this sanitation process”, indicated the Minister of information and communication.

Present at this launch ceremony, the charge d’affaires of the Embassy of Mali in Guinea, Mahamane DRA explained the reasons for his presence on the ground. “I’m here to support this initiative by the Guinean authorities. This cleansing day is truly salutary. I think this is part of improving people’s living conditions. We, as an embassy, ​​will now participate for the success of this day”.

The municipality of Dixinn is among the municipalities that host these sanitation operations. The Mayor, Mamadou Samba Diallo, who received the government delegation, said he was satisfied with this initiative. “Today, I am proud to have received in my commune five (5) ministers who came to support us. I have with me a representative of the Embassy of Mali in Guinea. So I’m excited. You see, the garbage is being cleared. I appreciate any initiative that aims to rid the city of its rubbish,” said the mayor.

Before the official launch of the sanitation operations, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization paid a visit to the town hall of Dixinn for the coordination of activities. Mory Condé did not take enough time on the scene. He had come to see the level of preparation.
