Several pop star scandals
Shakira is up to his neck in water
In addition to a bitter custody battle with ex Gerard Piqué, Colombian singer Shakira is also facing several years in prison for tax evasion.
Dark clouds over the otherwise happy pop star: The Colombian hit singer Shakira (45), who has sold more than 80 million records to date and has more than 115 million followers on Facebook, has great trouble with the Spanish tax authorities. The judiciary accuses Shakira of having evaded taxes in the years 2012 to 2014 – 14.5 million euros, the equivalent of 14.1 million francs. Prosecutors are asking for the “Waka Waka” star to be sentenced to eight years and two months in prison and a fine of 23.8 million euros.
For her part, Shakira has denied all allegations and has so far rejected an out-of-court settlement. The singer denies her tax liability in Spain for the years in question. She often visited her ex-partner and the father of her children, soccer star Gerard Piqué (35), and has only lived in Barcelona since 2015. Previously she lived in the Bahamas. In addition, she paid all taxes due in 2018. Her lawyers also emphasize that Shakira’s income came primarily from international tours.
Separation following twelve years
But things are also going badly for the woman with the world-famous hip movement in her love life: at the beginning of June, Shakira and Gerard Piqué announced their separation following twelve years of relationship. Especially in Spain, where the two had previously lived with their two sons Sasha (7) and Milan (9), the separation of the former dream couple attracted a lot of media attention. “Shakira and Piqué go their separate ways,” even headlined the renowned newspaper “La Vanguardia” and immediately went into the question of guilt for the love-off.
For many, the person responsible had long been found: days earlier, an alleged infidelity by Gerard Piqué made headlines in the country. Shakira is said to have even caught her partner in bed with someone else. The FC Barcelona star footballer moved out of their shared villa in Esplugues de Llobregat near Barcelona at the beginning of the year and now lives in an old town apartment in Madrid. Neither Piqué nor Shakira have commented on reports of this kind. A joint letter to the press only says: “We regret having to confirm that we are separating. For the sake of our children, who are our top priority, we ask that our privacy be respected.”
The couple met while filming a video
The love between the Colombian hit singer and the Spanish soccer star had started so romantically: The two met in 2010 while shooting the video for the World Cup hit song “Waka Waka” shortly before the soccer World Cup in South Africa. A year later they announced their relationship and since then they have always been in love and flirting.
But those days definitely seem to be over. Meanwhile, a bitter custody battle rages between the ex-couple, who never married. So Shakira should do everything possible to move from the Catalan capital to Miami (USA) and take her sons with her. But Piqué wants to keep the children in Spain at all costs. He is said to have even forbidden his ex to leave the country with them for holidays.
So the last word in this top-class war of roses seems far from having been spoken.
