The Blues coach confirms Alonso will leave Chelsea in the current transfer market
Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Marcos Alonso has expressed his desire to leave the Blues following today’s 1-0 win over Everton.
The Spanish left-back was not on Chelsea’s list for a visit to Goodison Park, amid the media and the press regarding his future.
After the match, Tuchel spoke with “Sky” and confirmed that Alonso would leave the team in the coming period, following he requested that and the German coach agreed. He also made it clear that the Blues might sign new names.
What did Tuchel say regarding Alonso?
Tuchel answered a question regarding the 31-year-old following today’s hard-fought win over Everton, and this time the German made no secret of his team’s transfer intentions.
He said: “Yes, Marcus asked to leave and we agreed, it wouldn’t make sense to put him on the pitch today.”
Several press reports have stated that Alonso is close to an agreement with Barcelona, although the Spanish team is still struggling to register a few newcomers in the current season’s list, so it may not be easy to complete this step.
What else did Tuchel say regarding Chelsea’s summer business?
Speaking following the match, the German coach said: “If we can add, we will add, not necessarily in the midfield position but we are open to everything.”
“I think we can use new energy and new legs to get us to a proper level, if not, we will push this team but I think we can use more input and get quality.”
It is worth noting that the Chelsea team has so far signed winger Raheem Sterling, central defender Kalidou Coulibaly and left back Marc Cucurella.
