Under the direction of the President of the Republic Evariste Ndayishimiye, the Council of Ministers met on Wednesday August 3, 2022 at the Presidential Palace of Gitega, to analyze nine points on the agenda including the financing share of the INSS, of the ONPR and the State to increase the pension to 30% in favor of retirees before 2020.
According to the document of the General Secretariat of the State, the members of the government analyzed a summary of the projections of the workforce, the share of financing of the INSS, the ONPR and the share of the State, respecting the chosen scenario. by the Minister in charge of Finance, to increase the pension to 30% for retirees before 2020. No retiree should receive a pension of less than 30,000 BIF and the calculations relating thereto over a period of 10 years (2020 -2030); the draft law amending law no. 1/04 of 27 January 2010 reorganizing the pension and occupational risk schemes for civil servants, magistrates and agents of the judiciary; the draft decree amending decree no. 100/52 of 31 March 2010 establishing, organizing and operating the National Office for Pensions and Occupational Risks for Civil Servants, Magistrates and Judicial Officers.
They also studied the draft decree on the modalities for the application of Law No. 1/09 of March 14 amending certain provisions of Law No. 1/12 of May 12, 2020 on the Code of Social Protection in Burundi. for the public sector; the draft joint ordinance raising the pensions received by public sector retirees retired before January 1, 2020, presented by the Minister of National Solidarity, Social Affairs, the Human Person and Gender.
The Council of Ministers also considered the draft memorandum of understanding between the Government of the Republic of Burundi and the company “Frontier holdings limited” of India for the installation of a treatment plant and solid waste management in the city of Bujumbura, presented by the Minister of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock; a note on the arrears of statutory contributions of Burundi within international and regional organizations, presented by the Minister of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning; a note on the issue of the marketing of products such as those of Brarudi, Buceco and Sosumo, presented by the Minister of Trade, Transport, Industry and Tourism.
