As darkness fell, Israeli authorities said that sirens sounded in areas in the south and center, while images showed what appeared to be missiles shot down by air defense systems.

In Tel Aviv, Israel’s economic hub, witnesses said they heard explosions, but there were no reports of sirens going off.

Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath correspondent explained that sirens were heard in central Israel, especially in Ashkelon, while ambulance teams announced their readiness, in addition to opening shelters.

No injuries

Israel said that there were no casualties from rockets from Gaza, according to our correspondent, while Israel estimated that the escalation in Gaza would continue for days.

Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath correspondent also reported that the Iron Dome intercepted 40 of the 100 rockets fired from Gaza.

The Israeli army had revealed that the air raids it launched on Gaza on Friday killed 15 people, stressing that the operation targeting the Islamic Jihad has not ended yet.

“According to our assessment, 15 people were killed in the operation,” IDF spokesman Richard Hecht told media outlets. He stressed that the operation “is not over yet,” describing it as a “preemptive attack” on a senior leader in the movement.
