The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating an armed attack that caused serious injuries to a man in his sixties in Sainte-Rose-du-Nord in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.
The police were called to go to a residence of the municipality in the MRC du Fjord-du-Saguenay around 7 p.m. Thursday.
Seriously injured, the victim was transported to a hospital. Friday morning, the SQ might not specify if his life is threatened.
As for the suspect, aged in his twenties, he had fled when the police arrived. It was not until around 3 a.m. that he was located and arrested in a wooded area. A dog handler participated in the search operation.
The young man was to be met at the start of the day by the investigators.
The forensic identification service came to the scene to assess the scene and try to shed light on the events.
The police did not want to confirm if a link unites the victim to his alleged attacker.
The SQ indicates that a weapon was used, but did not want to specify the nature.
