New Delhi: Doctors who received illegal freebies and benefits from Micro Labs pharmaceutical company are in trouble. The National Medical Commission has requested the Income Tax Department to hand over details including their registration number and address. It is reported that the commission may take strict action once morest them.
Last month, the Income Tax Department raided the offices of Micro Labsys, the maker of Dolo 650 and others. That’s when it was discovered that the company had given free travel to doctors and medical professionals to promote the products of Micro Labs. The Income Tax Department has also found that the company has spent regarding one thousand crore rupees for this.
The Income Tax Department conducted an inspection at the offices of Microlabs in connection with tax evasion. During the investigation, evidence including digital documents was found that the company was trying to unethically promote the company and its drugs. Following this, the National Medical Commission’s Ethics Committee had been instructed by the Central Health Department and the Pharmaceutical Department to conduct an inquiry into the matter. Doctors can lose their medical certification and right to practice if found guilty.
