Deaths from covid-19 remain above 230 cases per week

The virus of Covid-19 caused the death of another 242 Colombians in the last week, that is, currently the average is 34 deaths each day.

According to data from Ministry of HealthRegarding the reports from July 29 to August 4, in this last week 13,200 new cases were also reported, regarding 5,000 less than those registered the previous week.

However, the number of diagnostic samples also decreased in the last week, with a number of 94,523 carried out, almost 8,000 less than those reported last Thursday in the previous report.

Most of the fatal cases occurred in Bogota, with 59 deaths; followed by Vallewith 40 cases; Antioch, with 34; Y Santandercon 28.

The deaths correspond mainly to people over 70 years of age, some with underlying diseases, including two women aged 100 and 105 in Bogotá, another woman over 108 years of age in Cali, Valle del Cauca; and a 101-year-old woman in San Lorenzo, Nariño.

However, a 5-year-old boy from Barbacoas, Nariño also appears among the list of deaths. As well as a 9-year-old girl from Cajibío, Cauca.

As for new cases, the list is led by Bogotá (5,274), Antioch (1.329) and Valley (1,110).

With fewer cases: Santander (909), Cundinamarca (619), Norte de Santander (413), Nariño (351), Boyacá (331), Cesar (275), Cauca (271), Caldas (244), Risaralda (241) , Putumayo (219), Barranquilla (211), Meta (187), Huila (153), Tolima (146), Atlántico (128), Casanare (124), Quindio (115), Córdoba (77), Cartagena (52) , Guajira (75), Amazonas (55), Caquetá (52), Magdalena (48), Arauca (40), Santa Marta (37), Bolivar (27), Sucre (27), Choco (13), Guainía (7 ), Vaupes (7), Guaviare (4), San Andres (4), Vichada (1).

In total, since the start of the pandemic, Colombia has registered 6,278,998 cases and 141,075 deaths. Active cases are currently 14,527.
