What happened?
This Thursday, the Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Giorgio Jacksonreferred once more to the controversy generated by his statements regarding the “Value scale” of this Government in comparison with the previous ones.
It should be noted that following what happened, the Secretary of State apologized and was supported by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric.
What did Jackson say?
In the middle of a visit to Coquimbo, the minister was asked if he has thought regarding step asidetaking into account the criticism that has been generated in recent hours for his statements.
At this, Jackson simply replied: “The President has expressed his full support for us and we are going to continue working to reach the agreements that Chile needs“.
your apologies
Last Wednesday, the authority noted that “last night (Tuesday) I had a live conversation with a streamer (Wingz) in front of an audience that identifies as ‘apolitical’ and, in the context of a long conversation, I misstated some ideas, to the point that it has lent itself to misunderstandings regarding what I believe. Therefore, I want to explain and apologize to those who, justifiably, felt offended.”
The minister assured that “they asked me how governments differed in general. I said that all governments said they wanted to achieve the same things (well-being, progress, etc.), but that when making decisions values and principles were prioritized to act (I wanted with that -unsuccessfully- to explain what differentiates political projects)”.
“I tried to explain that our government (that is, the entire arch of government, both coalitions and not just one part) obviously It was far away from the previous government. But at the same time, as a result of years of learning, we also had a synthesis of the new political project of the Government, “he said.
Boric’s Backup
After the controversy, the President expressed that “we as a generation, because it is true that we are young, we have the duty to learn from history and history has dark and bright moments. Those who preceded us in the work that I have to do, but also in other ministries, they had great successes and also made mistakes, but we have to learn from both And we have to do it with great humility”.
“Minister Jackson You have my support and my endorsement.. I am constantly evaluating our cabinet, all the people with whom we work, there is no doubt regarding it, but on this issue, I believe that we have such great challenges as a country that the neighbors do not want to see us in political fights and in dimes and diretes of declarations of some and others”, he added.

In a broadcast on the Twitch platform, the Segpres minister stated that “our scale of values and principles regarding politics is not only far from the previous government, but I think that compared to a generation that preceded uswhich might be identified with the same range of the political spectrum, such as the center left and the left, I think we are approaching the issues with less euphemism and more frankly”.
