Rumors regarding new hardware from Nintendo have been swirling for years now. However, when it is the firm itself that speaks, we must listen carefully as in the present case…
Not for 2022
We’ve been hearing regarding a Switch 4K, a Switch Pro and a whole host of other names for a bunch of years now to describe new hardware from Nintendo. Indeed, the Kyoto firm did release the Switch OLED, which was not quite what the surveys predicted, but the machine will soon be six years old: for many, it will be time for a revival with either a new version or a brand new console.
While waiting to learn more, Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa himself spoke during an interview with Nikkei: no new hardware is planned during this fiscal year, which will therefore end on March 31, 2023. So don’t expect a new Switch or a new machine in the coming months.
The door stays open
Obviously, the question arises for the next fiscal year, which will therefore begin on April 1, 2023 and which might well welcome new. It should also be remembered that in these latest figures, Big N admitted to having exceeded 111 million Switches sold, with however a slight drop recorded due to the shortage of components affecting the industry. VSThis last one is therefore to be seriously considered and might well be a delay factor for a new Switch or another project.
Likewise, it seems good to point out that some time ago, Nintendo did indeed confirm that it was working on new hardware, without anyone knowing what exactly it was regarding. The future is being prepared behind the scenes, be sure of that.
