The least we can say is that Scorn has come a long way. But this time it’s the right one and while the release has never been so close, the developers allow themselves some very interesting clarifications regarding their famous baby.

Scorn Flakes

Scorn is one of these terribly enigmatic games, as intriguing as disturbing for some: it must be said that its universe directly inspired by the work of Hans Ruedi Giger, the famous Swiss artist who notably participated in the artistic direction of the first Alien film, is unique in his genre. A cultural reference that will be taken up here, almost extrapolated, to give rise to a macabre and frankly original adventure.

And the least we can say is that the development of the title is not recent: it made its first appearance on Steam in 2016, then on Kickstarter the following year with a nice sum of money collected… before sinking into prolonged silence. It was not until 2020 that the software resurfaced, this time under the aegis of Microsoft with a clearly assumed exclusivity at Xbox.

But beware, it is not because the Redmond giant is behind and has put marbles on the project that it will be gigantic; on the contrary, the development studio wanted to calm the ardor, shortly before the release.

Scorn of plenty?

Ebb Software came to give some news of the game directly on Steam, Valve’s famous platform, to its loyal and growing community. It is more precisely the CEO Llubomir Peklar who took the floor, first with a small update on the progress of the design.

We are reaching the final stages of development of the game, which also means that we have to submit it to our partners to ensure that everything runs smoothly on all platforms before release. The team is also focusing more on working out the finer details, including several scripted scenes and moments. We keep tweaking them, we’ll have more great content to share following Gamescom and before launch.

Rather good news, in short. The Serbian developer also took the opportunity to add some crisp information:

The universe covers a variety of different environments at different levels. Lifespan can of course vary depending on how long it takes someone to progress through the puzzles, but we estimate it will take 6-8 hours to complete the game.

And when asked and Scorn should be considered a triple A gamethat is to say with a very large budget, the answer is direct and we mightn’t be more frank.

Not at all, it’s an independent production and a passion project! Although we started with only 4 people and a very small budget, we have since grown into what you might consider an AA project.

Clarifications welcome for this singular game on which we will obviously keep a close eye until the release, scheduled for PC and Xbox Series on October 21.
