India will host the UN Security Council’s Counter-Terrorism Summit. The meeting will be held on October 29 in Delhi and Mumbai. India is halfway through the second year of its term as an elected non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. 15 countries including the US and China will participate in the summit. The aim of the meeting is to formulate an anti-terrorist policy at the international level.

The current members of the Security Council are Albania, Brazil, Gabon, Ghana, India, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico, Norway and the UAE and the five permanent members are China, France, Russia, the UK and the US.

The United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) with the support of its Executive Directorate (CTED) has reportedly decided to hold a special meeting on the growing threat posed by misuse of new technologies.
