a first victory for Nick Suzuki and his team

In a text last Monday, I told you regarding the LSHLa 3-on-3 Montreal summer hockey league in which Nick Suzuki, Josh Anderson and a long list of Quebec players took part.

And since the meetings take place on Tuesday evenings, that means that last night the guys were in action. Suzuki was at his post, but Anderson was not there.

Remember that the team of two CH players had a 0-3 record before yesterday’s meeting.

However, the good news is that we were still able to see two regular CH attackers at the complex Hockey Etcetera last night, as Jonathan Drouin made his league debut. However, he was not with the Suzuki team, but in the team that crossed swords with that of CH #14 yesterday.

During the game, Suzuki offered three points, he who scored a goal and two assists. Drouin, for his part, amassed two assists. Special mention to Nicolas Aubé-Kubel and Julien Gauthier, who had a productive evening with five points each.

Of course, statistics should be taken with a grain of salt (following all, it is not necessarily ultra competitive and the guys are mainly there to have fun), but we can still point out the great performances.

After three periods, however, the score was 10-10, so we needed the shootout. And during the session, Suzuki (the first shooter of his own) distinguished himself with this very nice feint.

It was Kris Letang who was the first shooter for the other team, and when his shot was stopped by Michael McNiven, it ended the game. Suzuki’s team won a first game (by the mark of 11-10), bringing his record to 1-3-0.

Next week, the four teams will play their last game of the regular season before the start of the playoffs. The four teams will qualify (and ranked according to their regular season record) and the team that wins two consecutive games will win the playoffs.

In short, we continue to follow all this out of the corner of our eye, and it’s nice to see CH players and Quebecers sharing the (small) ice cream for the good cause (remember that all profits are donated to the research for pancreatic cancer). We will see the four teams in action next Tuesday, therefore.
