Mountain specialists from the Huesca Civil Guard carried out five rescues on Tuesday at an interval of just over 11 hours. In total, they helped seven people, most due to exhaustion or being lost. Fortunately, there were no serious consequences to be regretted in any of the interventions.
Around 10.00, a notice was received of a 60-year-old canyoneer from Malaga which was located at the beginning of the Dark Ravine of Balced, in the Sierra de Guara (Bierge), and had suffered a possible knee dislocation when jumping from one stone to another. The Air Unit and the Greim de Huesca traveled together with the 061 doctor, who evacuated the injured person to the Huesca airport, where an ambulance took him to the San Jorge Hospital.
In addition, at 3:30 p.m. a device was activated to locate two hikers aged 22 and 23, residents of Manises (Valencia), who had lost their way in Collado Bacún, in the vicinity of Punta de la Espata (Villanúa). The helicopter from Huesca and the Greim from Jaca went, which evacuated them unharmed to Villanúa.
Around 5:00 p.m., the helicopter and the Greim de Huesca, together with the 061 doctor, went to the aid of a 60-year-old hiker from Murcia who was dizzy and he might not continue the route to Fuentes Baños (Alquézar) that he was doing. He was taken to the airport and from there by ambulance to San Jorge Hospital.
At 7:00 p.m., the Edelweis Hotel in Torla reported that it had received a call from two French hikers, a 63-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, who were lost and exhausted in the Faja de las Flores, in the Ordesa National Park. The Benasque Air Unit, the Greim de Boltaña and the 061 doctor went to the area and located the couple in the upper part of the Carriata Circus. They were evacuated to the Ordesa meadow, from where they continued on their own.
And the day of rescues concluded with a warning that arrived at 9:15 p.m. an 18-year-old Valencian hiker that he was with a group and that he showed signs of extreme exhaustion in the Balcony of Pineta (Bielsa). The Benasque Air Unit, the Boltaña Greim and the 061 doctor evacuated the young man to Benasque.
