Danger of burns: the FPS Economy permanently withdraws individual rotisseries (“cowboysteaks”) from the market

Individual rotisseries, also known as “cowboysteaks“, can no longer be purchased or rented, fknow the FPS Economy, making the temporary suspension decided in 2020 final. These devices present serious risks of burns and do not meet general safety standards. This is the reason why the SPF has decided to withdraw them from the market and recall those that have been sold.

The brooch rests on a tripod and overhangs a small aluminum container in which fuel is lit (the height of the flames can sometimes reach ten centimeters). Everything is placed directly on a wooden board in front of the person. This way, everyone can cook their own piece of meat.

However, this way of doing things is not without danger. “Risks are highest when fuel is added to an (almost) dead tank, when the metal spit handle has no guard, or when dripping grease squirts the fuel. In addition, the small individual rotisserie can be unstable and tip over, letting the lit fuel spill on the table, or it can also cause carbon monoxide poisoning.“, assures the FPS Economy.

Following numerous accidents and because the devices did not meet general safety standards, the FPS Economy decided in 2020 to temporarily suspend the sale or rental of “cowboysteaks“. This measure has become final.

The FPS Economy recommends that any owners of one of these devices stop using it and return it to the point of sale. It will also no longer be possible to rent them through butchers or caterers.
