In a statement on the 3rd, the National Health and Medical Industry Labor Union evaluated, “It is very tragic that it has been confirmed once once more that even the best tertiary general hospitals in Korea cannot afford emergency surgery for in-hospital staff.” This is urgent,” he said.
“Patients can occur 365 days a year, 24 hours a day,” he said.
To the Asan Medical Center in Seoul, “We must investigate and clarify the details of the cause of death, such as the reason why the doctor was not present at the time and the time it took to turn on the power,” he said. If there is an unnecessary delay in transfer time, the reason must also be disclosed.”
The union said, “The fact that this incident has led to a public debate that there are only one or two doctors who can perform emergency surgery due to rupture of a brain aneurysm even in domestic university hospitals,” the union said. It has been reconfirmed as a core problem that needs to be addressed.”
The union believes that the government has a responsibility to closely supervise the investigation into the death and whether hospital-level measures are being prepared. He also emphasized, “Even in order to prevent recurrence of the disease, the evaluation criteria of various government medical institutions should be thoroughly reviewed once once more.”
On the same day, the Korean Hospital Physicians Association also expressed its condolences to the nurse who died of cerebral hemorrhage through a statement on the same day, saying, “Through this incident of the death of a nurse at Asan Hospital, we have improved the water storage system so that the essential medical field can develop autonomously. We need to start reforming the health system,” he said.
In relation to this case, the Korean Medical Association cites the problem of ‘a shortage of essential doctors’ and urged them to provide support for the practical operation of emergency systems for cerebrovascular diseases in each region and to present a roadmap to improve the water storage system, starting with essential medical care.
Earlier, on the morning of July 24, a nurse at Asan Medical Center in Seoul collapsed and died of a brain hemorrhage while on duty. The nurse received first aid at the emergency room of Asan Medical Center in Seoul, but there was no intention to perform emergency surgery, so she was rushed to Seoul National University Hospital, but eventually died.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has launched an investigation into the death of a nurse at Asan Medical Center in Seoul.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, on the 4th, along with the Songpa-gu Public Health Center, they will check the site of Asan Hospital in Seoul to determine whether the nurse has been treated and responded appropriately.
