The future buyer of Bernard Tapie’s former Saint-Tropez property is called Tony Tamer, American businessman, specialist in international investments.
Tony Tamer is not yet the real owner of the villa La Mandala, but he is now the successful bidder. The villa was put up for auction by the Commercial Court of Liège because La Mandala belonged to Bernard Tapie (2012-2022) through a company under Belgian law. Tony Tamer is therefore the beneficiary of this auction for which he had to sequester a guarantee of the offer: 10% of the amount proposed to acquire this exceptional property: 81.2 million euros. And this pending the French justice which has “frozen” the property of the French tycoon, including this luxury residence in Saint-Tropez. The full amount will only be paid when the court lifts this seizure.
A handful of days each summer
An experienced businessman, Anthony Aouni Tamer manages nearly 50 billion in assets in an investment fund he founded, HIG Capital, which uses its resources to support medium-sized companies.
For a few summers, the businessman has become attached to the peninsula, where he lives for a handful of days during the high season.
With an insane offer of nearly 81 million euros, this American billionaire had set the bar very high for all his competitors in this auction in Belgium. In the home straight, there remained only one French investor already established in the peninsula, but who might not compete.
An extraordinary price? “It’s an atypical property”according to local real estate sleuths. “These are goods that have no price per m”, but rather a favorite value. For once, the villa La Mandala which overlooks the beach of Graniers, dominates the bay of Canebiers, also benefiting from an access to the coast, does not lack character.
