Chess Olympiad | Karunikam is still active at the age of seventy-six; Grandmother of the Chess Olympiad

A grandmother is among the players who have come to compete in the World Chess Olympiad held in Mahabalipuram, Chennai. Seventy-six-year-old Julia Lebel Arias of the Monaco women’s team is the oldest player at the 44th Chess Olympiad. Having competed for France and Argentina in the Olympics in the past, this women’s international master is now competing for Monaco.

Julia Lebel, a four-time Argentina Women’s National Chess Champion, has also won the French Women’s National Championship three times. Competed 2 times in interzone competitions which are important stage of world championships. This is the 18th Chess Olympiad of 76-year-old Julia Lebel Arias. Julia is coming out for the 107th game of her career.

Julia might not participate in some Olympiads due to health problems. Although the distance from the Olympiad venue to the hotel where she is staying is a little difficult, this chess grandmother is very happy with the warmth and hospitality of the Indians.

Commonwealth Games; Indian women won historic gold in lawn bowls

Indian women’s lawn bowls team achieve historic victory at Commonwealth Games Indian women won the gold following defeating South Africa in the fours final on Tuesday. It was also the first final for the Indian women’s lawn ball team at the Commonwealth Games. This is India’s fourth gold at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

The Indian women’s team won with a score of 17-10. Lovely Chaubey, Nayanmoni Saikia, Rupa Rani Tirki and Pinky presented the history medal to India. With this, India’s total medal tally has increased to 10. India’s medal tally is 4 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.
