The body found this followingnoon in Rebecq is indeed that of Frédéric Gonzalez Moradiellos, the policeman disappeared on July 5. The Walloon Brabant Prosecutor’s Office confirmed this on Tuesday August 2 at 7:30 p.m.
It was a farmer on his way to the harvest who made the macabre discovery shortly before 4:00 p.m. Immediately following the discovery of the body, the West-Walloon Brabant police zone established a judicial exclusion perimeter. A little later, three medical examiners, the scientific police, the prosecution and the DVI – the victim identification division – descended on the spot. The area was cordoned off for several hours. At the start of the evening, the identity of the Brussels policeman residing in Rebecq was therefore confirmed by Magali Raes, spokesperson for Walloon Brabant: the body was concealed by vegetation, which made it invisible to aerial searches and difficult to detect despite all the search resources that were deployed.
Experts confirmed it was a suicide. The judicial inquiry thus finds its epilogue.
