Decline in volumes on the Swiss Stock Exchange in July

Over one month, turnover in the Zurich financial center reached 77.2 billion francs, down 21.0%. The trading volume meanwhile fell by 16.2% to 4.1 million transactions.

The Swiss stock exchange SIX recorded a fall in volumes and turnover in July, compared to the previous month.

Over one month, turnover in the Zurich financial center reached 77.2 billion francs, down 21.0% over one month. Trading volume fell by 16.2% to 4.1 million transactions, the Swiss stock exchange operator said in a statement on Tuesday.

Over the first seven months of the year, however, the volume of business reached 783.0 billion francs, exactly the same value as a year earlier, for a number of transactions up by 0.2% at 38.5 million.

In July, it was the Nestlé share which generated the greatest volume, ie 6.8 billion francs, while in terms of number of transactions, Novartis is in the lead, with just over 225,000 transactions.
