Amazon ends its online storage service (except for photos and videos)

Amazon is ending its Amazon Drive online storage service. From December 31, 2023, customers worldwide will no longer have access to this service. As of January 31, 2023, it will no longer be possible to upload files to the cloud. The corresponding iOS and Android apps will therefore disappear from the application stores as of October 31, 2022.

Users will, however, be able to continue saving photos and videos to Amazon Photos – the group’s new focus. Files from Amazon Drive with the corresponding compatible file formats, which Amazon lists here, are already accessible on Amazon Photos. For files of other types – like PDF documents or music files – Amazon Drive users should look for a new solution.

As with Amazon Drive, Amazon Photos provides 5 gigabytes of storage space free of charge to users with an Amazon account. Amazon Prime customers get unlimited storage for photos and 5 gigabytes of memory for videos — space they can expand for a fee.
