The US must take its eyes off the situation in Europe and focus on the new enemy, China. Missouri Senator Josh Hawley writes regarding this in his column for The National Interest.
“Unless our European allies make the necessary commitment to their own national defense, we must not put more American lives in Europe at risk by allowing China’s power to rise unchecked. America’s main external adversary does not hang over Europe. It looms in Asia. I am talking, of course, regarding the People’s Republic of China. And when it comes to Chinese imperialism, the American people need to know the truth: The United States is not prepared to resist it,” Hawley wrote.
Earlier, relations between China and the United States deteriorated. This is due to the possible visit to Taiwan of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. China considers Taiwan its own territory and has threatened the US with “serious consequences” if the visit goes ahead. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said they are ready “bury” any enemy. The United States, in turn, began to move aircraft carriers and aircraft to Taiwan, writes RT.
