The Public Prosecution orders the detention of 26 accused for 4 days for gathering and disrupting transportation in Aswan

On the 31st of July, the Public Prosecution ordered the pretrial detention of twenty-six defendants for four days pending investigations. Accusing them of participating in a gathering, disrupting the flow of land transportation and assaulting public officials in Aswan.

The Monitoring and Analysis Unit in the Al-Bayan Department of the Attorney General’s Office had monitored the circulation of publications and news on social networking sites with a number of people gathering in Aswan in front of a special car showroom claiming to demand their money from an accused person referred to criminal trial on charges of receiving funds for the purpose of investing them without a license, and this coincided with the receipt of a police report stating They cut off the public road and disrupted the movement of trains, and investigations led to the identification of a number of participants in that gathering, so the Public Prosecution began investigations.

As members of the Public Prosecution moved to conduct an inspection at the scene of the incident, they found traces of burning a tire on the railway tracks. It also delegated the specialized forensic evidence department to examine the scene of the incident, and inquired from the Traffic Department, the Roads and Bridges Department, and the competent railway authority regarding cutting off the road and the damages inflicted on it. It also ordered the arrest and bringing of the accused, and in implementation of that, they were arrested and interrogated by the Public Prosecution, but they denied committing the incident, and investigations are being completed.
