Tug of war for defenders |
VfB want Medic, St. Pauli won’t give him up
It has long been known that VfB is still looking for a central defender. Now it’s out who is at the top of the wish list: Jakov Medic (23), who still has a two-year contract with second division St. Pauli. The Stuttgarter Zeitung first reported on it.
According to BILD information, VfB sports director Sven Mislintat (49) has been trying to get the Croatian for some time. Stuttgart should be as good as in agreement with the player. But the Hamburgers have so far blocked every poaching attempt. VfB has already offered a fee of two million euros for the 1.93 meter edge, and now the club wants to make an improved offer once more.
But the chances of success are mediocre. St. Pauli already parted ways with two central defenders in the summer. The Kiez-Kicker rely fully on Medic.
Pauli’s sports director Andreas Bornemann (50) did not want to comment on BILD’s request.
However, as the club has heard, there is no economic need for the transfer. And if you don’t have to, you don’t want to let a top performer go.
