Duque affirms that Iván Márquez is in a vegetative state

In an interview with Semana magazine, Colombian President Iván Duque revealed what the country’s authorities know regarding the guerrilla leader’s state of health.

“Some sources assure that he died in a confused act in Venezuela. Others say that he is in a hospital in a very serious state of health, practically in a vegetative state.”

On July 9, the FARC dissidents, known as Segunda Marquetalia, published a video in which they claimed that Iván Márquez was the victim of a “criminal attack” that was “directed from the Army barracks and the Police commandos.” from Colombia.

For his part, the Colombian Defense Minister, Diego Molano, confirmed on July 13 the information indicating that Márquez had survived an attack and would be in Venezuela.
