“we received 6 patients injured by live ammunition” (Santé-Guinée clinic)

As previously announced, violent clashes were recorded yesterday, Friday July 29, 2022, in certain places on the Hamdallaye-Kagbelen axis between groups of young demonstrators and the police. These scuffles resulted in deaths (4 according to the FNDC) and several gunshot wounds. Some of these wounded were taken to the NGO Santé Guinée clinic located in Kakimbo-Dimesse (in the commune of Ratoma).

Met this Saturday by a reporter from Guineematin.com, Dr. Hamidou Diogo Diallo, chief physician of the said clinic, said he had received six (6) patients, all with gunshot wounds. And, these patients were between 16 and 22 years old.

“In total, we received 6 patients, all shot with live ammunition. Of these six, two of them came in critical condition. These critical cases, one was hit in the chest and the other in the abdomen. They were bleeding very profusely internally. So, I referred them both urgently to CHU Donka. But, apparently, they led them to John Paul II; and shortly followingwards they informed me that they died.

Now, the other 4 patients, one who was shot in the leg, another in the pelvis and the other two were shot on the foot. These 4, I did their first aid, then I referred them to Donka University Hospital for better care. I received the first victim at 3 p.m.; and within minutes I received three more. Also in the evening, that is to say following something like an hour and a half, I saw a group of people carrying two others with bullet wounds. That’s what makes the 6 patients. So, we received no body deposits and no patient died in our clinic. As I speak to you, there is one of the wounded who is hospitalized in the observation room and who must be released in the following hours,” said Dr Hamidou Diogo Diallo.
