Dominique Aegerter disqualified – no race start! / Supersport World Championship

An hour before the second Supersport race in Most, the FIM WorldSBK Stewards Panel ruled that World Champion Dominique Aegerter will not be allowed to race in the second race following his unsportsmanlike behavior on Saturday.

It took Dominique Aegerter and his team Ten Kate Yamaha all of Saturday followingnoon and evening and early Sunday morning to convince the doctors he was fit for Sunday’s second race.

The Swiss was in the first race on Saturday in a mass crash involved. He immediately got up in the gravel bed, but then lay down once more – speculating that the race control would stop the race, which didn’t happen.

The medical staff took the world champion to the medical center for a check-up, diagnosed a concussion and declared him unfit for the rest of the weekend.

On Sunday at 10 a.m corrected the medical assessmentfollowing Aegerter was able to provide MRI scans confirming he does not have a concussion.

He is still not allowed to compete in the race on Sunday (start 12.30 p.m.) because the FIM WorldSBK Stewards Panel has just disqualified him for unsportsmanlike behavior.

“Dominique is fit, but he received this penalty for his behavior on Saturday,” said Ten Kate team manager Kervin Bos.

Aegerter violated Article 3.3.2.2 of the Sports Code, in which he “simulated a medical situation” following the fall, thus delaying the rescues in order to cause the race to be abandoned.

Aegerter has confirmed these allegations in writing to the FIM WorldSBK Stewards Panel. The 31-year-old accepts the penalty and does not appeal.
