The launch of the financial aid delivery operation for the benefit of the owners of homes affected by the fires in the “Bni Ysef Al-Srif” forest took place on Friday in the municipality of Boujediane in the province of Larache, in application of the High Royal Directives, aimed at taking urgent measures to mitigate the impact of the fires.
This operation, which took place in the presence of the Wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Mohamed Mhidia, the president of the regional council, Omar Moro, the governor of the province of Larache, El Alamine Bouassam, and the director General of the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North (APDN), Mounir El Bouyoussfi, focused on the delivery of financial aid to the first group of owners of homes affected by the forest fires in the province of Larache.
In a statement to MAP, Mr. Moro stressed that this operation is part of the implementation of the commitments made by the Regional Council, in the wake of the framework agreement for the implementation of a series of urgent measures aimed at mitigating the impact of forest fires, noting that this convention, at a cost of 290 million dirhams (MDH), aims to support agricultural activity, forests and the affected population.
In this regard, he recalled that the region has undertaken to mobilize 8 MDH within the framework of a special agreement to finance the repair and upgrading of more than 180 houses, including more than 150 dwellings in the province. of Larache and 30 in the province of Tetouan, which have been identified by the local authorities.
Mr. Moro said that commissions have been created to monitor and support this operation and ensure that the homes are ready to welcome their occupants as soon as possible.
According to data presented on this occasion, the framework agreement relating to the implementation of a series of urgent measures revolves around 5 axes, relating to the support of the people affected through the repair and upgrading of their homes, mitigating the impact on livestock breeders and beekeepers, organizing reforestation operations and restoring affected fruit trees, carrying out integrated economic development projects, and creating more than 1,000 additional employment opportunities in affected areas under the Awrach program.
The provisions of the framework agreement are implemented at the level of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region through 3 special agreements between the Wilaya of the region, the Regional Council, the prefectures and provinces affected, and the ministerial departments concerned. .
Indeed, the first agreement relates to the repair of the houses affected, with a budget of 8 MDH allocated by the Regional Council, while the second concerns the upgrading of certain centers affected by the fires in the provinces of Larache and Tetouan, financed by the Ministry of National Territorial Development, Urban Planning, Housing and Urban Policy.
Under the third agreement, the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests will mobilize additional financial resources for the rehabilitation of the forest estate and the reforestation of areas affected by the fires.
