A phenomenal Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors to equalize in the NBA Finals.
The 34-year-old veteran scored 29 points in a safe 107-88 home win once morest the Boston Celtics with German national basketball player Daniel Theis. It is 1-1 following two games in the best-of-seven series, and four wins are required to win the title.
Theis stays pale – series moves to Boston
“I said we have to play with passion. We did that today,” said Curry: “It’s a good feeling to be back on track.” In the first game, the Warriors had given up a clear lead in the last quarter, but now they continued their dominant game to the end. The decisive factor was the third quarter, which clearly went to the home side at 35:14.
In addition to Curry, Jordan Poole (17 points), Andrew Wiggins (11), Kevon Looney (12) and Klay Thompson (11) also scored in double figures for Golden State. For Boston, Jayson Tatum had 28 points and Jaylen Brown had 17.
Theis, who is the third German to play for the Larry O’Brien Trophy following Detlef Schrempf and Dirk Nowitzki, stood on the floor for almost 15 minutes but remained pale. The former Bamberger only took one throw – and it went wrong. The series is now moving to Boston, where duels number three and four are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday.
