Atlanta: Brooksby offers Isner and joins Tiafoe in the semi-finals

Small sensation this night in Atlanta with the elimination of John Isner, the defending champion. Opposed to Jenson Brooksby, the tournament’s number two seed was beaten in three sets (3-6, 6-1, 6-4) and only 1h50 into the game. If the 25th in the world had started rather well in the state of Georgia with a first pocketed break, at 2-1, which was enough for him to get by in the first set, the reaction of his opponent was fatal to him. Usually so impressive on serve, Isner didn’t keep up the pace and lost two face-offs and trailed 5-0. On his way, Brooksby then took the opportunity to equalize a set everywhere and completely restart this quarter-final. Behind, up to 3-3, the two players ensured before Isner cracked once more by conceding a new break. At 5-3, if the latter saved four match points, he was finally unable to prevent the 43rd in the world from winning shortly following on his serve.
