Dortmund easily reaches 2nd DFB Cup round

The German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund has reached the second round of the DFB Cup without any problems. The black and yellow prevailed 3-0 (3-0) in the duel between the traditional clubs at the third division team 1860 Munich on Friday evening. Karim Adeyemi, who moved from Salzburg to Dortmund in the summer for a reported 30 million euros, scored his first competitive goal for BVB with the goal to make it 3-0 (35th).

However, the 20-year-old German’s goal should not have counted due to an offside position. Neo-coach Edin Terzic, who had already won the cup with Borussia in 2021, relied on two other newcomers on his comeback in the starting line-up alongside Adeyemi with Niklas Süle (FC Bayern) and Nico Schlotterbeck (SC Freiburg). Donyell Malen (8th) and Jude Bellingham (31st) also scored for the dominant runner-up in front of 15,000 spectators in the sold-out Grünwalder Stadium.

Meanwhile, VfB Stuttgart advanced to the second round without the injured ÖFB team forward Sasa Kalajdzic. The Swabians defeated third division Dynamo Dresden 1-0 (1-0) away, Darko Churlinov scored the gold goal in the 33rd minute. Kalajdzic missed the game with an ankle problem that had been going on for days. A return for the 25-year-old seems possible for the Bundesliga opener next Sunday (7 August) once morest RB Leipzig. “It’s very realistic,” said VfB coach Pellegrino Matarazzo recently.

Bottom of the second division, Karlsruher SC, effortlessly advanced to the second round with an 8-0 (3-0) thrashing of fifth-division side TSG Neustrelitz. ÖFB legionnaire Kelvin Arase prepared the goal to make it 3-0. Second division club 1. FC Nürnberg also booked the ticket for the next round. The Franconians defeated fourth division Kaan-Marienborn away 2-0 (1-0).
