A CAQ candidate withdraws two days after the announcement of her candidacy

The candidate of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) in the riding of Rouyn-Noranda, Claude Thibault, announced on Friday that she would not finally run under the colors of the party for the provincial elections, two days following having announced her candidacy.

“Madame Claude Thibault has notified the Coalition avenir Québec that, for personal reasons, she wishes to withdraw her candidacy for the next general election. The Party takes note of this decision by Ms. Thibault, ”said the CAQ in a brief press release in the followingnoon.

Prime Minister François Legault had just formalized the arrival in the ranks of the CAQ of the former candidate of the Liberal Party of Canada.

“For me, it is an honor to have been approached to join the CAQ team for the riding of Rouyn-Noranda,” she said in a press release on Wednesday.

Recall that Ms. Thibault had tried to be elected in 2015 and 2019 in the riding of Abitibi-Témiscamingue during the federal elections.
