What has changed on Instagram?

In its latest update, Instagram is increasingly focusing more on video content, and less on photos. Notable changes include app dimensions that now extend to the edge of the screen.
Users also commented that the timeline has become full of ads, and has become more like Tik Tok, the main competitor to Instagram.

“Tik Tok” is the main competitor to “Instagram”, and the Chinese application focuses on video, and it has at least one billion users around the world. In an attempt to counter its rival, Instagram launched Rails, the feature of short clips similar to “Tik Tok”, in August 2020.

Instagram has put a lot of effort into promoting Rails, including tweaking the algorithm to favor it.

Celebrities are joining the campaign

“We want Instagram to be simple and easy to use, so all the videos that are going to be successful on Instagram are going to be Rails,” Mosseri says.
