Emirates News Agency – US stocks decline in early trading

ABU DHABI, July 28 / WAM / The stock market indices on the American Wall Street Stock Exchange rose during today’s trading, following achieving strong gains in the previous session.

According to US market data, the “Standard & Poor’s 500” index fell by 0.64%, or 25.88 points, to reach 3,997.73 points, while the “Dow Jones” industrial index fell by 0.57%, equivalent to 182 points, to reach the level of 32013.32 points, while the “Dow Jones” industrial index rose by regarding 0.57%, equivalent to 182 points, to reach the level of 32013.32 points. Nasdaq, which is dominated by technology stocks, scored 208.67 points, or 1%, equivalent to 121.32 points, to reach 11911.1 points.

European stock markets trimmed their gains in late trading, as the German “DAX” index rose by 0.29%, the French “CAC 40” index rose by 0.59%, while the British “FTSE 100” index turned lower, down by 0.5%.

In terms of Asian markets, Japanese stocks closed higher to continue their gains for the second session in a row, with the Japanese Nikkei index rising in the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 0.36%, while the broader Topix index rose by 0.16%.

On the other hand, the performance of Chinese stocks varied, as the “ESI” Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange rose by 0.21%, while the Chinese Hang Seng Index decreased by 0.23%.
