The National Seismological Center of Chile reported this Wednesday, July 27, a magnitude 6.2 tremor 32 kilometers north of the city of Calama and at a depth of 123 kilometers.
The strong earthquake was felt this followingnoon, at 2:58 pm (Chilean time), in the regions of Tarapaca, Antofagasta y Atacama.

The authorities of the entity indicated that the telluric movement lasted a long timepicked up the Bío Bío Chile portal.
Also, objects were reported falling inside the houses due to the tremor.
While in some mining operations small landslides were recorded, for which the respective precautionary measures were adopted.

According to the National Emergency Office of the Ministry of the Interior (One my), the National Disaster Prevention and Response System evaluates possible damage to people and alteration to basic services or infrastructure as a result of this earthquake.
For its part, indicate that the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Chilean Navy (DIE) estimated that the characteristics of the earthquake do not meet the necessary conditions to generate a tsunami on the coast of Chile.
