The pedestrianization of the Sablon underlines the transformation of the district
From 1is August, a section of rue du Sablon will be exclusively dedicated to soft mobility. A revolution for Morges mobility.

From this Monday, rue du Sablon (here in September 2021) will experience a new wave of works.

Until a few years ago, the station district was presented on several levels. At the top, the CFF car park, then a notch lower, the place de la Gare, the shops and the rue du Sablon which was bordered by a wall, supporting the CFF halls, a high place of entertainment in Morges. Five years later, the new buildings in the Les Halles and Îlot Sud districts are at the same level, for a real revolution in this part of the city.
From Monday 1is August, the transformation of this district will take a further step with the closure of a large part of rue du Sablon to traffic. Indeed, this artery being mainly used as a transit axis, the street will become a preferential path reserved for soft mobility. This will no longer cut off the Halles district from the rest of the city. In addition, improvements will be made to allow residents to take ownership of this new space.
Access to maintained car parks
From now on, to reach the station, the shops or the Dubochet School by car, you will have to make do with the two car parks located on each side of the district. The first under the Îlot Sud tower will still be accessible via rue de la Gare, but in zone 20, priority for pedestrians.
As for the Les Halles car park, you will have to make a detour to the north of the railway tracks and take Avenue Peyrollaz to park there.
If certain questions were raised during the public information session organized last March, the pedestrianization of this axis is one of the first strong measures in terms of mobility in the city of Morges. A municipal mobility master plan should also soon be debated within the ranks of the Municipal Council in order to take charge of the other problematic areas of the lakeside town.
