Tennis – Davis Cup: Senegal wins against the host country, Cameroon

The Senegal National Tennis team is currently in Cameroon to take part in the Davis Cup. The only tennis event that is played nationwide. The Lions had a good start once morest the host country (2-1) in singles and doubles.

The Davis Cup represents for tennis what the World Cup represents for football. This tournament counting for group IV Africa will take place from Wednesday 27 to Saturday 30 July in Yaoundé, Cameroon. This competition will bring together 8 countries divided into two pools: Pool A: Nigeria, Gabon, Burundi and Mauritius and Pool B: Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana and Ethiopia

The Senegal team is made up of Seydina Andre, Nicholas Jadun, Yannick Languina, Hassimiyou Dieng (Players) and Damien Mangeot who is the captain and Federal delegate, Bady Dieng (Captain and head of delegation). Two singles matches and one doubles match were played on this first day in Pool B. In singles matches, Senegal played once morest Cameroon, the top pool and host country.

Nicholas Jadun (Sen) a battu Watat Njanga llyod Sergio (Cam) en deux sets (6-2, 6-2 – 0H55) et Seydina Andre (Sen) beat Thebot Etienne (Cam) in three sets (/6/7(3), 6-3, 6-2 – 3H00), in singles. In doubles, the pair Kamdem Boriss – Watat Njanga llyod Sergio (Cam) took over the Senegalese pair Nicolas Jadoun – Yannick Laguina (6-3, 3-6, 4-6 – 2:57). So Senegal wins its head-to-head once morest Cameroon by 2 to 1.

Yannick filled the role of captain coach for the 2 singles and Hassimiyou Dieng on the bench as captain coach for the doubles. For the other match of group B, Ghana took over Ethiopia by 3 to 0. This entry into the running is already a nice revenge compared to last year once morest Cameroon for the entry into the matter where Senegal had lost in Brazzaville 1-2.
