Lady Camones: “We have a president whose environment in general is plagued by acts of corruption” | Peter Castle | Bruno Pacheco | POLITICS

One day following President Pedro Castillo celebrates a year in power, the new head of Congress, Lady Camones, described the government as “deficient” and “incapable”. “We have serious economic problems, unemployment, and the agrarian crisis. The much talked regarding second agrarian reform did not go beyond the name”, he stated.

He also regretted that the environment of the head of state is “plagued” with accusations of corruption.

“Unfortunately, we have a president whose environment in general is plagued by acts of corruption, we have not had a president who makes the best decisions, such as, for example, calling the best technicians that do exist in Peru. we have people [en el poder] that not only is she not qualified to direct the destinies of the country, but that she is possibly involved in acts of corruption”, he stressed in an interview with El Comercio.

The congresswoman from the Alliance for Progress said that Castillo Terrones has to be aware of the damage he is causing to the country.

“On different occasions we have asked him, we have invoked him, we have invited him to resign, but he does not make that decision. So, the exit is a constitutional product of the decisions or of the investigations of the prosecution, one of them might be the subject of a constitutional accusation, ”he added.

He also remarked that in the scenario that Castillo is vacated or resigns from the Presidency, “respect for the constitutional order, that the vice president assumes [Dina] Boluarte”.

“We know that she has a constitutional accusation, that she does not yet have a final decision, so as long as she is not disqualified, the constitutional order indicates that it corresponds to her,” he said.

“This election has not been for President of the Republic”

Camones, at another time, pointed out that the election held the day before in Congress “has not been for the President of the Republic.”

She indicated that in a situation of constitutional succession, there is a commitment signed by her and the parties that supported her to call for the election of a new Board of Directors.

The division of the opposition

History has already shown us that in scenarios in which some presidents have been vacated, in Congress, the Board of Directors took a step aside for the election of a new Board of Directors that, in consensus with the 130 congressmen, chooses who is consider your moment [apto para la Presidencia de la República]. It might be someone else, it might be myself, that is not known, ”she stated.
